Currency: Bulgarian Lev (BGN), from January 2026 the official currency will be euro. 

Language: Bulgarian is the official language. In tourist areas many speak some English. 

Safety & norms: Burgas is safe for tourists. As with all destinations: keep valuables in check, use official taxi services.

Tipping: In restaurants, 5-10% is common if service is good.

Electricity: Standard European 230 V / 50 Hz, two-pin plugs.

Time zone: Eastern Europe Time (EET) UTC+2, and +3 during daylight saving.
